M&P.

Because I can't be there this weekend to watch one of my closest friends tie the knot with an absolute gem of a man, I decided to take the time to write a little piece for both Micki and Paul.

Micki, I admire you. I admire how simple and pure and level-headed you are. I admire your ability to stay so youthful, yet so mature. I admire your ability to light up a room with one of your lame jokes. I admire your dance skills. I admire how genuine and real you are, you always speak from your heart and with meaning. You must know how rare and how important you are. I wish so badly I was there with you today, to celebrate the beginning of something very, very special.

Paul, I remember the first time we heard about you. There was a lot of giggling. It was clear that from day one Micki was smitten. We were even smitten by you. After meeting you, I knew. Apart from being the handsome and smart man you are, you're ambitious, you're caring, you treat Micki like a queen and you two compliment each others competitive quirkiness in a way I didn't think possible.

Micki and Paul, there are few people in this world that meet their soul mates. God blessed you both. People wait their whole lives to find what you two have found. Cultivate the habit of being grateful. Just be grateful to have one another. Be present. Enjoy moments. The small one's and the big one's. Pay attention and watch with glittering eyes. Gratitude changes everything.

"Marriage is no fairytale"

BULLSHIT.
This is your fairytale. It is in your hands to make this relationship exactly what you want it to be.
Happiness is a choice. Happiness is work. Happiness is ultimately everyone's goal in life, yet all too often, we lose sight of that. Marriage is a fairytale. You write that fairytale, every.single.day.

You will cry. You will fight. You will be angry with one another. You will both mess up, and will hesitantly admit your wrongs. But never lose sight of the fact that you can't live without each other.

When you make up. Make up for a while. Sleep in together. Drink tea and do laundry together ;).NEVER STOP DATING. Date nights should not be a rare thing. Make time for each other. Travel. Open each others eyes to new experiences and grow together.

Love doesn't have to be perfect, in fact, it will be far from perfect. It has to be true.

I am so happy for you two. I am so happy you two found something true.

From the bottom of my heart.
Congratulations.
Let your first date be on me.
Sushi at furusato, chai lattes at remedy and a movie at the Garneau.
